Archive, memory, new forms of community

Workshop designed for small local communities of people living on islands or villages in Greece .

{HOW CAN EXPERIENCE AND MEMORY GET MOLDED INTO CREATIVE COLLABORATIVE PRESERVATION OF LOCAL CULTURES}

We aim in collecting and preserving oral local heritage, experiences of the participants themselves or of their familiar people, rather than “historic events”, and creating artworks for the festival, together with a structure and practise for future artworks. Ιn the future, new items can be registered and new narratives can be made, within the community within the community that will sustain the archive on the island. The roles aquired, archivist, curator, artist can be floatted around by participants.

The basic idea behind the workshop is to facilitate a very limited collection of personal experiences in the form of audiovisual storrytelling. Personal experiences of the past, memories of the participants, events or moments they recall or that can be traced from their relatives, are documented and become a material network of the artwork. This material will be mixed with content found online in a specific web archive that contains 3d models-objects made by users all over the world, in order to design collaborative 3d audiovisual animations

Modules of workshop:
- Walks on the beach and discussions
- Recording stories told by older people
- Using found footage in webarchives
- Remixing stories, personal experiences and footage.
